If you set a work item to repeat on a schedule, future work items will be created dependent on the settings you selected within your work creation. However, by default work will be created three months in advance of its scheduled start date.

The exception to this rule is when the next work item in a schedule is due to begin in more than three months (eg. annual work items). In this case, the next piece of work in the schedule will be created one year in advance of its start date.

You can choose to change this when you are setting up, or editing the work schedule. At the bottom of your settings, you can choose how far in advance future work items, and their tasks, will be created.

Creating tasks and work items close to their start date can help reduce distractions in your team's to-do lists. However, sometimes you may want them to appear earlier—if you need to send Client Tasks in advance, for example.
